Care

Gold-tone finishes and natural stones last a long time if you keep three things away from them: water, chemicals and friction.

Daily

• Put your piece on last, after perfume, lotion, sunscreen and hairspray have dried.
• Take it off before swimming, showering, exercise or sleep.
• Wipe it with a soft dry cloth at the end of the day. That one habit does more than anything else on this page.

Storage

• Store pieces separately so chains do not abrade each other.
• Keep them in the pouch they arrived in, somewhere dry and out of direct sun.
• Humidity dulls finishes faster than wear does. Avoid the bathroom shelf.

Stones

• Moonstone and pearl are soft. Never use cleaning solution on them; a dry cloth only.
• Garnet, aquamarine and carnelian are harder but still dislike heat and household cleaners.
• Natural variation in colour and veining is expected and is not a fault.

Never

Ultrasonic cleaners, bleach, alcohol, acetone, toothpaste, or boiling water. They will strip the finish.
