Earrings for a Delhi Winter Wedding

A winter wedding in Delhi is a long evening in heavy fabric. There are shawls, velvet, high necklines and a lot of time standing outside by the heaters. Earrings chosen for an October afternoon can disappear under all that, or start to hurt by midnight.

Let the earrings show above the layers. A shawl or a high-neck blouse covers anything that sits close to the jaw. Choose length: a chandelier or a long drop falls clear of the collar and is still visible with a wrap on.

Pick colours that hold up in warm light. Most winter functions are lit by yellow lights, fire pits and fairy lights. Deep reds, emerald, teal and gold all look rich in that light. Very pale stones can wash out, so save them for daytime.

Plan for five hours, not five photos. If the function is a long one, choose a lighter build and save the heaviest pair for the pheras or the reception photos. Pin your hair back so the earring does not catch on a shawl.

Velvet and earrings. Velvet is already a statement. Pair it with one strong colour in the earring and keep the necklace simple, or skip it.

Three pairs we would wear this season:

Every Nomi piece is hand-finished and made in a small run, usually a run of one, so nobody else at the wedding will be wearing your pair. We dispatch across India within 2 business days. Browse the chandeliers or jhumkas & chandbalis, or message us on WhatsApp with a photo of your outfit and we will suggest a pair.
